Web Design Lessons > Lesson 1-07: Images

Previous Lesson | Lesson Index | Next Lesson

In this lesson, we're going to cover how to insert images into your HTML documents, how to add alternative text (the text which appears when you hover your mouse over an image) to images, how to set the size and borders of images, what the difference between GIF and JPEG image formats are, and finally, how to use spacer images to assist you in your designs.

Images are generally used to set the mood of the web page, except for the ones reserved for the actual content (i.e. charts, albums, etc.). Note that mood-setting images are required to be used with care. If you pick the wrong images when designing a website, you can ruin the looks and feel of otherwise a great-looking website so bad that your visitors will flee in terror. Hopefully, your free online web design course will protect you from this demise :)
